I have so enjoyed photographing this lovely couple. I have had the opportunity to work with Cassidy and her family many times over the years starting with her sisters wedding, and then her Senior Pictures near Zion. Todays post is a bit different. Cassidy wrote down her loves story with Aaron and is sharing it with all of you. Enjoy!
Aaron and I had our first date at the end of April 2014. We were both kind of seeing someone else, and I lived in St. George at the time (he was in Provo) so we weren’t really expecting much to come from the date- I was definitely not expecting to meet my husband!
I remember everything about that date perfectly. We went to the UVU library because he had some math homework, but ended up talking for an hour sitting in the hallway. Then we went to the mall and Aaron bought me and him matching bracelets (I have a thing for bracelets)! After our bracelets we did a Photo Booth and I remember sending the pictures to my sisters that day and joking to my best friend that I was going to marry Aaron Saager.
I left back to St. George a couple days after that and on my ride back home Aaron kept calling me! He would call me about once every hour just to check up. I remember just smiling at my phone and thinking, “who does this?!” But I freakin loved it so much. There was something different with Aaron. I had just met him but I felt like I was talking to an old friend, and I just couldn’t get over that feeling! I got home and had my last week or so of school and we talked or Facetimed every single day. It was pretty obvious from the beginning that this was going somewhere, so we decided to stop dating other people and pursue our relationship. The problem was, I had moved back to Vegas for the summer and he was in Provo/Arizona! We didn’t know how this whole distance thing was going to go, but we took it day by day and made it work! I went to Arizona, then he would come to Vegas, and back and forth. This is how we spent our entire summer, and as crazy at it was, I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Finally it was time for school to start up again and I decided to move to Provo so I could be close to Aaron. At this point we knew we wanted to get married, we were just figuring out the details. In November we decided on January, which meant wedding planning was started immediately! Aaron proposed in October, the day before Halloween when we were in Arizona and it was the opposite of how he pictured the night going which made it so funny and so awesome haha. Basically I was being a brat the whole night and the poor kid was just trying to surprise me with a proposal! He did surprise me and it was one of the happiest days ever.
The first thing to check off our list was getting our engagements done. This was easy for me because I already knew who was taking my engagements way before I was engaged, and even before I knew Aaron! Jimmy did my sister’s wedding photos and me and my sister’s senior pictures, and in the process become a good friend to our family. In my opinion, Jimmy’s the best in the business and there wasn’t a question that he would be doing my pictures.
We did the shoot up past St. George near Kolob. Jimmy had never done an engagement shoot there and asked if we were up for an adventure and of course we said heck yeah! The whole time I was in awe of how beautiful the location was which made me even more excited that we were getting pictures done there! Jimmy was putting us in all kinds of crazy places, including a cliff! Anything for that perfect shot right?! It was an unusually nice day for the month, and only got chilly at the very end of the shoot! Jimmy totally captured our personalities in every picture and we had so much fun the whole time! It’s been almost three months since we took our engagements and Aaron and I still love to look at them all the time!

[…] Its not often that the snow falls in Southern Utah but when it does it can make for some pretty spectacular photos. I love the look of the snow on the saturated sandstone cliffs. I was pretty excited to photograph the engagement recently of Sarah & Braden in Zion National Park. The snow was on the ground yet the temperature was a perfect 70 degrees outside. We took off on an engagement photo adventure and came up with some pretty awesome images to document the love that these two share. Keep posted for more photos from this beautiful couples engagement session in Zion National Park! […]
