PROPOSING IN ZION NATIONAL PARK
Are you looking for a memorable and absolutely unique location to propose to your significant other?! Having a photographer to photograph this once in a lifetime event is a must! Zion National Park is one of the most incredible places on earth. It makes for the perfect backdrop for a wedding proposal. People travel from all around the world to visit the sun soaked sandstone cliffs of Zion. Its no wonder as the park and region is absolutely breathtaking! It can be difficult though, knowing the best place to propose. There are no shortage of incredible locations, but what time of day will be best? What background works best for photos? Some locations are much more of an intensive hike then others. Do you want to be in hiking attire, or dressed like you are ready for a dinner. There are lots of ways to plan your proposal, but the absolute best way is to discuss it with someone who knows the park intimately. I have been exploring Zion for many years, and know all the best spots and times of day when they work for photos.
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME FOR A PROPOSAL IN ZION?
The best time of day to pop the question will depend largely on the weather. Depending on the location in the park where we decide to do the proposal, close to sunrise or sunset is typically best. Some locations in the park are at the canyon floor, where others overlook Zion from above. Depending on which you are drawn to, the best time of day will change. If its a cloudy or stormy day, that will of course have an effect on the best time of day for lighting as well.
HOW TO DRESS FOR A PROPOSAL IN ZION
Typically the goal with a proposal is for it to be a complete surprise to your significant other. For this reason some couples choose to dress in normal hiking attire. They will act like its just another day hiking the trail before popping the question. This can work great, but if you want to do a small engagement session after the engagement, then you may also want a different clothing option. Bringing a change of cloths is one way of doing this. We can even coordinate to have me bring the change for you. There is also the option of having someone come out to do a quick hair and makeup touchup before engagement photos, but after the proposal. If you want to come dressed to impress, and ready for a session, do your session before dinner, and take your significant other into the park to check out “one last spot” before your meal.
HIKING TOUR PHOTOGRAPHER
There are a couple options for a photographer being there to capture your proposal. One would be that you hired a photographer for a tour on one of the hikes. Of course I would mainly be there just to capture the secret event. The other option, and the one I would recommend, is to set a photo spot for the proposal, and I will be there, just like any other tourist with a camera. I like to coordinate what we will each be wearing so that we can easily recognize one another. This time is such an incredibly exciting one for you. Lets put together a game plan to best photograph your amazing proposal in Zion!
