Best Places to Elope in Zion National Park
Zion is hands down one of the most beautiful places in the world. It draws nature and adventure lovers alike to explore its sandstone vistas and awe inspiring canyons. Its no wonder couples want to escape the stress of a large wedding. Traveling to this mecca of peace and beauty to elope is the perfect option. Eloping in Zion is such a fantastic option for any couple that loves beauty, low stress, and nature. An elopement in Zion can be a back country adventure, or it can also be as easy as off the side of the road. There are no shortage of incredible vistas full of awe and wonder. An elopement can be as few as the two of you with an officiant. Or perhaps you are bringing along your close family and friends for a semi elopement adventure. There are countless accommodations in and around Zion. Access to amazing spots in or around the park is easy and painless. There are more places then I can list for an elopement in Zion, and I would be happy to go over spots with you personally.
Below are a few of my favorite locations for an elopement in Zion. All the spots listed below may not be permitted locations for weddings within the park, but even if you don’t tie the knot in one of these spots, traveling to do photos at them before or after the elopement is always a great option.
Top Wedding spots in Zion National Park
1. Off the highway along the switchbacks
This great little pull off highway 9 is a beautiful spot with easy driving access. Its an awesome option for any couple looking for a easy trek, but a big wow factor.
2. Temple of Sinawava
The Temple of Sinawava is the last stop on the tram into Zion Canyon. The park will give you a pass for one car to drive back, which is great when traveling in the park in a big dress. Otherwise any guest will need to take the tram back to this beautiful spot. It can take up to 45 minutes to get here on the tram. The Temple of Sinawava is a popular spot, although typically people stay out of the way of weddings. This is the same drop off as the popular narrows hike.
3. Anasazi Plateau
Although the Anasazi Plateau is not actually in Zion, but is on BLM land. It has stunning views of the park and surrounding vistas. This spot is secluded, so a great option for those couples wanting to avoid a crowd. It a short walk to the viewpoint, which is a stunning spot for a elopement.
4. Zion Overlook
The Zion Overlook trail is one of the more popular hikes on the east side of the Zion tunnel. It is about a mile hike, with absolutely jaw dropping views of the canyon below. This spot is killer for a sunset elopement in the park. The trek up is not very strenuous and the payoff is beyond worth it!
5. Canyon Overlook from Kolob Rd
Kolob Reservoir Road drives in and out of Zion National Park. The pull off off the road with amazing views off into Zion is beyond stunning. This area is not part of Zion Canyon Trail, so if you decide on this spot, don’t plan on photos close by in the park as well. Its about a 45 minute drive from here to Zion Canyon. Its a secluded area with few people and incredible landscapes.
6.East of the Mount Carmel Tunnel
The east side of Zion is by far the quieter area of the park compared to the canyon. This is a driving area as the highway 9 runs through it. Its great for those couples wanting some different views then Zion Canyon as to offer. It is also really nice for avoiding large crowds of tourists. The views are beautiful and so unique.
7. Slot Canyon in Zion
Zion is not typically thought of for its slot canyons, but they can make for a fantastic elopement spot. They are quiet and so beautiful. If you are having your elopement during the wet season, or after a rain, this will not be an area you want to do as they can fill with water and flash floods. That being said, during the dry time, they are quiet and keep cool from the summer heat.
8. The East Side of Zion
The East Side of Zion is quit with no shortage of amazing locations. Im happy to go over the best spots on this side of the park!
