Mikele and Chris made the trip down from Cedar City to do their engagement photos in the Red Rocks of St George. They really love the atmosphere that Southern Utah offers and wanted to capture that in their pictures. We started the session downtown on the streets near Green Gate Village and made our way up to Pioneer Park. Saint George has some of the most amazing landscapes in the world. Its so awesome to be able to access them right in our own back yard. These two were so much fun and Im beyond excited to be working with them. Below is a bit of their love story told by Chris.
Dixie Red Rock Engagement { Mikele + Chris }
“In a nutshell, we met through mutual friends probably about 6 or 7 years ago. I was a sophomore, and she was not yet in High School. Things weren’t super spicy that long ago, and if you asked us back then if we thought we would ever get married, we probably would’ve exchanged weird glances.
I went on to college and Mikele continued through High School. We hadn’t really seen each other in over a year when she came knocking on my apartment door. Needless to say, I was thrilled to see her again. We were shootin’ sparks after that faster than you can blink! For several months, we saw each other nearly daily. Until that day in late spring when we went to a spot that overlooked Cedar City and said ”I love you” to each other.
A few months after that, I packed by bags and went on a Volunteer LDS mission for our Church. I was called to serve in Sweden, 5,000 miles away. You almost can’t get much farther away than that. We didn’t see each other for over 24 months. Not once. But we wrote to each other nearly every week for over 100 weeks about what we were doing, experiencing, and learning. Of course, most importantly, we always wrote how we wouldn’t give up what we had. And We pulled through.
I came back 7 months ago, and it was as if we had never been apart. I took her to our ”I love you” spot with a breathtaking view of the city a few months after being home and told her I had a surprise for her in the trunk of the car. We got out, she opened the trunk to find a guitar case and a couple of chairs. A bit confused, she turned to ask me what it was, and found me on my knee. I asked, she said yes! After that moment, we set up the chairs and I played and sang one of our favorite songs for her.
It was where our love started. It is where our life began.”
