Cabo San Lucas Wedding – Part 1
- How did you meet?
Ryan and I met at Mutt’s Canine Cantina, a dog friendly beer garden, in Dallas, on a sunny Thursday afternoon. Ryan’s French Bulldog, Frank, jumped on my lap, knocking over my beer in the process. Ryan rushed over and offered to buy me a new one. We got to talking and Ryan asked me out to dinner the following evening. I am still not convinced that he hadn’t taught Frank this trick, hah! But either way, it worked. We were engaged one year later!
- Why did you choose to do a destination wedding?
Ryan and I knew from the start that we wanted a destination wedding. We were drawn to the idea of our wedding also being a vacation for our guests. We loved having the opportunity to spend more quality time with our family and friends. Rather than trying to fit it all into one day, we had a whole weekend with our loved ones!
- How did your family and friends respond to the decision?
Our family and friends were all very excited about our decision to have a destination wedding! All we heard for a year was, “we can’t wait for Cabo!”
- How many people attended the wedding?
We had 70 people attend.
- How/why did you choose the location/destination?
We considered many destinations across the globe, but ultimately decided on San José del Cabo, Mexico. San José is the more laid-back sister city to Cabo San Lucas. My family has vacationed there since I was a little girl and it feels like a second home to us. We appreciated how easy it is to get to, as most of our guests were traveling from Texas.
Once we decided on the destination, we only considered one venue: Flora Farms, a lush 25-acre working organic farm in the foothills of the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains and world class farm-to-table restaurant. I think most of our guests were expecting a beach wedding, so it was a fun surprise.
- Was planning a destination wedding easy?
I don’t think planning a wedding is ever “easy,” but we had a wonderful team of planners that made everything as seamless as possible. And we turned our planning trips into mini vacations, which made planning even more enjoyable!
